The principles under which an internal combustion engine works are pretty simple. Air is mixed with fuel in a combustion chamber which produces high temperature and pressure gasses that move pistons, turbines or nozzles. In effect, chemical energy is transformed into mechanical energy that in turn moves another part that produces the beneficial result. In the automobiles this is the turning of the wheels, in ships this is the force behind the propulsion system.

To produce this result, the parts of an engine involved are the crankshaft, the inlet and exhaust camshafts, one or more pistons, connecting rods, spark plugs, valves and a cooling water or air jacket. It all seems fairly straightforward. All the above are made from suitable material to withstand the heat and pressure that builds up during the engine's operational cycle.

Now and then some of these parts get worn out and need replacement. This happens during the regular maintenance. However, some of these parts, over time, develop problems that need more than the usual maintenance to be repaired. Moreover, whenever even this process is impossible, the engine needs to be rebuilt.

Engineers have been an integral part of whatever it is that uses an engine. It is them who will fix it when it is broken down, and it is them who can design a more tolerant engine or redesign an engine so that it can work again.

All this requires people who know what they are doing. Godwin-Singer Inc. has 70 years of experience riding behind their knowledge and expertise. Whenever an engine needs fixing in the areas of St. Petersburg, Tampa, Clearwater, Bradenton and Largo, give us a call or send us a message.
